Files & Folders Reference
The Sensor is shipped under different white-labeled names (Shigoto Sensor, desk.ly Connect, Seatti Signals, …) depending on the partner it is built for. This page lists every file and folder the installed application uses on disk, on both Windows and macOS. Wherever a path segment depends on the white-label partner, it is shown as <partner>.
Not every path is partner-dependent. The configuration folder, for example, is always named Shigoto regardless of which partner build is installed — this is intentional, so a single config/MDM policy works across all white-labels.
Installation (program files)
Windows
The installer is a per-user NSIS installer (no admin rights required) that installs into the current user's profile.
| Path | Purpose |
|---|---|
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\<partner>\ | Installation directory. Folder name is the white-labeled product name (e.g. Shigoto Sensor, desk.ly Connect, Seatti Signals). |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\<partner>\shigoto.sensor.exe | The application executable. The executable file name is fixed and does not change per partner — only the install folder and Start Menu/shortcut names are white-labeled. |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\<partner>\resources\app.asar | Packed application code. |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\<partner>\resources\app.asar.unpacked\native\ | Native (Rust) modules that cannot run from inside the asar archive (device/USB/display detection, etc.). |
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\<partner>\resources\app.asar.unpacked\resources\ | Unpacked static assets (icons, fonts, images) that must be loaded as plain files at runtime. |
| Start Menu shortcut | Created as <partner> under the current user's Start Menu. No desktop shortcut is created. |
HKCU\...\Uninstall\{a2c22559-86a1-44c9-8683-d949e6de9bbb} | Registry entry shown in "Apps & Features". Fixed GUID, shared identity across all partners and versions so in-place updates don't create duplicate entries. |
macOS
| Path | Purpose |
|---|---|
/Applications/<partner>.app | Application bundle, when installed system-wide. |
~/Applications/<partner>.app | Application bundle, when installed per-user. |
Configuration
| Path | Purpose |
|---|---|
%APPDATA%\Shigoto\config.json (Windows)~/Library/Application Support/Shigoto/config.json (macOS) | Main configuration file (anonymity mode, enabled state, language, auto-update toggle, partner/tenant selection, etc. — see Advanced). Always in a folder named Shigoto, never <partner> — this is shared across all white-label builds on the same machine. |
%APPDATA%\Shigoto\lastUpdate.json (Windows)~/Library/Application Support/Shigoto/lastUpdate.json (macOS) | Bookkeeping file used by the auto-updater to track the last successful/attempted update check. |
Logs
| Path | Purpose |
|---|---|
%APPDATA%\<partner>\logs\main.log (Windows)~/Library/Logs/<partner>/main.log (macOS) | Application log file (electron-log), rotated at 10 MB, no custom log path override. The folder name here is Electron's own app name (the same white-labeled product name used for the install folder, e.g. Shigoto Sensor, desk.ly Connect, Seatti Signals) — this is a different folder than the Shigoto config folder above. Accessible from the app via "Open logs folder", which calls shell.showItemInFolder() on this file directly. |
Electron / cache internals
| Path | Purpose |
|---|---|
%APPDATA%\<partner>\ (Windows)~/Library/Application Support/<partner>\ (macOS) | Electron's internal userData directory — session storage, cache, GPU cache, IndexedDB/local storage used by the embedded Chromium, crash dumps. Same folder that contains logs\ above. Managed entirely by Electron/Chromium, not meant to be edited manually. |
Native binaries
| Path | Purpose |
|---|---|
…\resources\app.asar.unpacked\native\native.win32-x64-msvc.node | Compiled Rust native module (Windows x64) used for low-level device, display, USB, network and session-lock detection. |
Registry / autostart (Windows only)
| Path | Purpose |
|---|---|
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run | Autostart entry, registered on first run so the Sensor starts hidden with Windows. |
HKCU\Software\Classes\shigoto\ | Protocol handler registration for the shigoto:// deep-link scheme (used for pairing/login flows). Registered under the fixed name shigoto regardless of partner. |
HKCU\...\Uninstall\<legacy GUIDs> | Orphaned uninstall entries from older installer identities (relevant for deskly only) are cleaned up automatically on install/update. |
AppUserModelID com.shigoto-labs | Used for Windows taskbar grouping / notification identity. Fixed across all partners — not derived from the per-partner app identity. |
Uninstallation behavior
The Windows uninstaller removes the install directory and additionally deletes %APPDATA%\Shigoto\ (the config folder) entirely, including config.json and lastUpdate.json. It does not remove the %APPDATA%\<partner>\ Electron userData/logs folder — see Installation, Rollout & Uninstallation for manual cleanup steps on macOS.
This applies to a real uninstallation only. Updates keep the config folder: when the installer replaces an older version — whether you run the setup again yourself or the sensor updates itself in the background — %APPDATA%\Shigoto\ and everything in it stays untouched, so the sensor keeps its identity across updates.
